Dr. Alucia Deloris Walton is a native of Savannah, GA and she holds a Bachelor and a Master of Music degree from Georgia Southern University. She also holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. She is a Music Specialist with the Savannah Chatham Public Schools and has served for 31 years.
As a music educator, Dr. Walton has taught General Music and Choral Music from grades Pre K through Grade 8, and has some experience teaching high school. She was a past instructor and Choral Director for 8 years of the BRAVO Camp(Black Youth Reaching to Achieve in Vocal and Orchestral Music)Summer Music Camp teaching music theory , piano lab, vocal music and music appreciation; the choral group was afforded the opportunity to perform at the following venues: The CASA Organization Appreciation Dinner (2007), The Martin Luther King Observance Day Association Grand Marshal’s Reception at Savannah State University, The Sickle Cell Foundation Dinner, Midway Presbyterian Church, Butler United Presbyterian Church, First Congregational Church, and Savannah Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta’s Talent Showcase.She is certified Level I for TI: ME, and has been trained and certified in Yamaha Music in Education. She teaches private piano, music theory and voice at her studio, Zamar Zion Praise Music Studio in Savannah, Georgia and is CEO and sole proprietor of Divine Essence Music Ministries. She is also a pianist, organist, composer, arranger and a clinician.
Dr Walton has received several honors such as: 1995-96 Teacher of the Year at Scott Middle School, 2006-2007 Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Middle School Choirs Received Excellent Ratings at GMEA Choral Festival. Outstanding Service to Tompkins Middle School (2000-2001), Service Award to Goodwill Baptist Church Gospel Choir (1993), Service Award for the Music Ministry at Resurrection Ministries of Christ (1999-2000), Service Award to the Youth Ministry at Miracle Word Ministries, Phi Delta Kappa Award for Teacher of the Year (1995), Service Award to Goodwill Gospel Choir (2006-2007), Dean’s List Miracles of Deliverance Bible Institute (2006-2007),and a presenter at the 2005 Georgia Music Educator’s Association In-service Conference representing the Music Technology Department at Georgia Southern University. Most recently, she was honored for 25 years of service as a Music Educator at the 2011 Georgia Music Educators Association In-service Conference.

She has founded and directed four choral ensembles which were: The Hodge Celebration Chorus, The Young Men of Integrity Boys Chorus, The Young Women of Distinctiion Girls, Chorus and the Hodge Beginning Chorus.Due to the fact that most of the original members of the above groups had moved on to middle school, Dr. Walton restructured all of the choral groups to the include the following present ensembles: The Hodge Celebration Select Chorus, The Young Men of Integrity Boys Choir & The Young Women of Distinction Girls Choir. These groups continue to exemplify excellence in their performances and musicianship locally, regionally and soon to be nationally by participation in the following: GMEA(Georgia Music Educators Association) District 1 Elementary Honor Chorus, GMEA District 1 LGPE ( Large Group Performance Evaluation), performing for the 2013 GCEL(Georgia Compensatory Education Leadership) Conference and the National Youth at Risk Conference.
